9 things to do in Hunza Valley (one day)

Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) is the northernmost province of Pakistan. It is the home of Hunza, the most fascinating scenery in the world. A day spent there is like a day in a dream.

The complete experience in Hunza must include scenery, culture, some history, and of course, a lot of authentic and local mixed-race foods (traditionally known for its longevity characteristics).

let us start! William Hill Limited!

We provide PakistanToursOnline services with different packages, like Honeymoon Tour, Group Tour, Company's Tours. Our Tour services are all in Pakistan or in Northern Areas.

Here are 9 things you should do to make the most of your day in Hunza Valley.

1. Rakaposhi mountain view at sunrise (6 AM)

If I told you a story about hiking on Route 6, would you be impressed during the 2,000-meter peak period? ?

Elsewhere, I believe you will-but not in Hunza! !

In Hunza, the mountains are so huge that most peaks below 20,000 feet are not high enough and have no name.

From Karimabad town, you can see the three highest peaks in the world-Bubrimoutin or Radifinger (7,400 meters), Ultar Sar (7), 500 meters) and The amazing Rakaposhi (7,788 meters).

On a clear day, look south from Karimabad (the sun will shine in from your left). Saw the towering white form of Rakapohi overlooking the entire Hunza Valley.

If you don’t see the mountains, it’s worth getting up early because it means more time to get excited about breakfast. William Hill website

2. Eat "Gyal"-a local Hunza breakfast (7 AM)

Gail

Gale is a local traditional breakfast food, wheat pancakes made with honey or jam and local favorite ingredients, almond oil.

Apricot oil produces such a sweet scent that matches the smoky flavor of charcoal or wood used in cooking.

There are several different types of Gale , and what I like most about this recipe is that it is so simple and hearty, the perfect combination for a cup of hot cream tea in the morning.

Baltic Fortress of Gilgit BaltistanTHE BALTIC FORTRESS OVERLOOKS THE TOWN OF KARIMABAD IN THE HUNZA VALLEY.

three. Climb to the Baltic Fort (9 AM)

The Baltic Fortress is a beautiful landmark in Karimabad (the largest town in the Hunza Valley). Once the ruler of the Xiongnu Kingdom, it has been overlooking the valley for more than 700 years.

This also means that this is one of the best places with panoramic views of Karimabad and the Hunza Valley.

4. "Extend your life" Hunza Water"

The expensive mineral water bottles are not as good as the living benefits of free drinking for Hunza residents.

Hunza Valley Apple JuiceAPPLE JUICE IS THE FRESHEST THAN STANDING UNDER AN APPLE TREE.

5. Apple or dried fruit snack (10 am)

Apples and apple juice

Apples are probably the most famous agricultural product in the Hunza Valley, and you can see the orchards extending to the hillside in all directions.

They come in many different varieties, sweet, crunchy, and sour and juicy-if you see a fruit tree, try to eat one while it is still attached to the stem.

Not only are Apples very cheap here, a local friend even reminded me jokingly, "They are so good, you might even never want Apples again."

Hunza Dried Fruit

This valley is located at a perfect altitude and can grow many fruits, which are often very expensive in other parts of the world.

Lake Attabad in Northern PakistanLAKE ATTABAD HAS THE BLUEST WATER YOU CAN IMAGINE.

6. Boat ride on Lake Attabad (11 AM)

After lunch, you have the right to decide. If you have your own transportation, or can use a rental vehicle, I recommend a short trip to Lake Attabad , one of the truly magnificent attractions near the Hunza Valley.

If not, then just finding a good place to enjoy the stunning scenery in the valley is not a good way to prepare lunch for yourself. Also, think about drinking a hot drink at Hunza Cafe (details and information below)

The amazing beauty of Lake Attabad (sometimes called "Attaabad") was the result of a massive landslide in 2010. The towering steel-gray rock surface of the Karakoram Mountains completely surrounds the lake. The lake reflects the most vivid blue, and literally, it must be considered credible.

There is a great restaurant next to the roadside scenery. Stop here for a cup of steamed Dupati milk tea and enjoy the panoramic view of the lake. If you walk to the lake by yourself, there are boats waiting to take you around the lake for 15-30 minutes.

7. Enjoy a hearty Hungarian lunch (2pm)

Walking in the fresh mixed air is a wonderful change in the heat and humidity of the Indus Valley. Now, you should find yourself desperate for a warm and hearty local lunch.

I suggest you go to the Hunza Gourmet Hall for dinner, where the magical aunt makes completely authentic local Hunza Valley dishes. All the cooking is done at home and is fresh. The two ladies don't cook before you order, William Hill Ltd. So you know that every dish is fresh.

The aunts quickly tell you that their food is organic and most of the ingredients they use are homemade. The cooking here is full of real local flavors. Below are a few examples of local mixed delicacies we tried in the pavilion.

Hunza Valley DodoDOWDO IS HANDMADE NOODLES MADE FROM LOCAL WHEAT FLOUR.

Dodo (noodle soup)

Handmade noodles made from local wheat, Tao Dao is usually made with chopped chicken. Add a few slices of onion and coriander, season with cardamom and cumin, the soup itself is golden, creamy soup

Henza's Chicken ShurroTHE SHURRO, A MIXED VERSION OF THE CHICKEN, IS REALLY INCREDIBLE

Chapshurro (Meatloaf)

You may see this "Hunza Pizza" advertisement, but I think Chapiro itself is a magical dish.

It is common that it is full of ground beef, which is actually yak meat with spices in the traditional Chapulo recipe. The seasoning is very simple, add some chopped onions, red peppers, small local tomatoes and coriander leaves.

This dish is a great example of mixing local ingredients with cooking styles common in central Pakistan. The hot piping and very filling chaplo meat pie is one of the most extensive (but best) dishes you can find in Hunza Valley.

Berekuz (cheese-filled flour cake)

This cheese-filled flour cake is another hearty dish, suitable for people who live and work in cool mountainous areas.

The cheese in this recipe is made with goat's milk and is traditionally a staple of Hunza and Baltic dishes.

The flour rolls out, and the apricot oil is fully spread on all sides before the cake is gently fried on the hot iron frying pan. Add cheese filling, put a thin piece of flour on top, and cut the whole cake into triangles before serving.

Sometimes the ladies serving here work together, other times they take turns to cook separately.

Eddie Castle in Yunsha Valley

If you don’t go to Lake Attabad, you may have some free time to visit Altenburg before climbing to the Eagle’s Nest. But don't wait too long, because you don't want to miss the incredible view of the setting sun.

The Altit fortress is partly located where the climb to the "eagle's nest". This is the original fort structure of the Hunza Valley. It was built in 1100 AD and moved to the Kingdom of the Baltic Fort hundreds of years later.

If you have to choose, then I recommend the Baltic Sea, just because it is larger and has a better view, but both places are full of the history of the Hunza Valley and its ancient kingdoms.

Hunza Cafe

At these temperatures, if you are like me, you almost always want something warm to drink or eat.

Coffee has only become popular in Pakistan recently, but due to the number of foreign tourists (usually on the way to hike to Karakoram). Coffee is available in many places in the Hunza Valley.

Offering local and European-style snacks and coffee, the walnut cake at Husa Cafe is great. You can also taste the local herbal tea, which comes from the nearby Pamirs.

Hunza ValleyTHE BEAUTIFUL SCENERY MAKES YOU FORGET THE SUB-ZERO TEMPERATURE

8. Sunset Eagle's Nest (5pm)

This is one of the points you may remember in the future, and one of the most important things in Hunza Valley.

Climbing to the eagle's nest really takes some effort, but the scenery is breathtaking. Even in the sub-zero temperature, I am in awe-seeing this infinite sight of 7 000-8,000 meters high uneven snow peaks, I almost forgot the cold air. William Hill website

For me, this is one of the highlights of the whole journey, and this is something you should not miss during your day in Hunza Valley.

9. Hunza Valley Authentic Food (8pm)

In Hunza Valley, there is no better way to experience the true local culture than eating with a local family. I would like to thank our good friend Pakistan Ali Tourism Market for making arrangements, this incredible dinner is possible.

I hope that the rounds of tea and snacks will extend into the evening. In fact, this is also one of my favorite memories during this incredible trip to Pakistan. I encourage you to watch the video of our experience here, or read the entire article written on this meal.

I won't put all the dishes in it, but it is a delicious meal and was warmly welcomed. The details of my favorite dish tonight are here.
